    Cooling System Electrolysis

Just went out with my voltmeter and measured the voltage coursing through my engine coolant. It fluctuated between .001 to .015 volts. One probe on the engine block. The other immersed in the coolant in the expansion tank - not touching the metal. The reading fluctuated as I swished the probe around in the coolant.

The antifreeze is 2 years old. I mixed it 50/50 with distilled water. The car's battery is disconnected. The multi-meter settles down to zero when the probes are not touching anything.

Do I have an electrolysis problem? That's going to eat my aluminum radiator or aluminum expansion tank?

I see where Paragon will sell me a radiator cap (their # 6544) that contains a sacrificial anode. However, they advertise it for copper radiators.
