Hi All - is there a difference between 1967 and 1968 Steering columns? If so how can you tell them apart? As always - Thanks.

Re: 67/68 Steering Columns
Eric,
I just remembered the flasher knob for 67 had an early and late version but don't know if the change coincided with the lower bearing change but a late 67 would still be the same as a 68. This info is for a solid column. I am not familiar with telescopic.

Re: 67/68 Steering Columns
Hi Eric,
The bottom of the tube of a 1967 column pass thru the firewall and is clamped of the firewall side. The 1968 column has a plate spot weld to the tube and butts the firewall. The brackets that hold it to the clutch and brake petal assembly under the dash are also different. A picture would be worth a thousand words. Hopefully someone can post the base and brackets of the two columns.
Regards,

Here's a '67 column, as it came out of the rack from Saginaw Steering Gear.

Re: 67/68 Steering Columns
John, that appears to be a late 67 (?) I believe the early ones had a snap ring at the bottom, rather than a clamp.
