Does anyone know when Corvettes went to the alum. 2 bolt starter nose? I saw one with a cast iron nose on Ebay. My 67 C-2 starter has never been out and I could not find it in the Archives. Thank you in advance. Dale

The first use of the aluminum starter nose in a Corvette was the 1962 model year for Powerglide equipped cars only.
For 1963 to 1965, the aluminum nose was used for all Corvettes. For 1966 through 1968 it was used for all small blocks as well as L-88's. For 1969, it was used for L-88 and ZL-1 only.
After 1969, the aluminum starter nose of the 62-69 configuration (i.e. straight across, 1 long and 1 short bolt) was used only for 70-72 with ZR-1. However, a differently configured aluminum starter nose was used for all 1970-82 Corvettes with automatic transmissions. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
