70 parking lamp connectors

While working in the car and cleaning /repairing front cables/connectors I noticed that big parking lamp connectors at the back of the grilles seem to be black painted. Are them semiflat black painted as they seem to be or is it black out/accidental painting. Thank you Roberto NCRS #30019 RMC

Greetings Roberto,

I looked at my parking light connectors (early 1970) and they are a cream white. I would expect all to 1972, at least, are the same.

Hey, Terry/Bob, the connectors on my '71 (Apr build) are cream white too. This reinforces Terry's input, Roberto. Try wetting a towel with a squirt of brake cleaner and see if you can find white in a SMALL area....

You are both right, below the paint is plastic, in yelowish white (cream). After cleaning they show very good condition for an almost 30 years connect. After cleaning, paint, wires in three colors and black rubber bridge connectors looks almost new. I used your method Jack, plus some paint remover and WD 40. Nobody will see it but I feel a little better with it... Thanks Roberto NCRS #30019 RMC
