    C1 '61 Molding

Does anyone have any tips for dealing with the transition where the fender top molding meets the chrome piece attached to the headlight bezel on a '61? The angle of the chrome piece is such that it leaves a huge gap between it and the fender top molding. Thanks

Page 37 of the Tech manual & J. G. Upper fender windsplit molding. Is it worse than imperfect? My '62 are up about an eighth inch. Terry Robertson

        Re: C1 '61 Molding

i had a terrible time getting the chrome piece and the stainless piece to mate.i finally ended up by using a pair of original, not service replacement, headlite bezels. and even then , the fit wasn't tight like they should be, so i GENTLY bent the pot-metal headlite bezels such that the chrome piece touches the fender top stainless moulding. i also GENTLY bent the stainless top moulding(pinching the foreward edge together if you will)to raise the height of the top of the stainless.it was an exercise in frustration but was worth the time and effort as i dislike seeing a 58 thru 62 with a 1/4" gap between the two trim pieces. good luck, mike
