    C3:Swapping original L48

I'm rebuilding this engine but have a chance to buy another complete 350 including M22 tranny for $800 in running condition from my co-worker.

I was thinking of storing the original L48 and rebuilding this other engine to something a lot snappier. It is casting block number 14010209, apparantly out of a 79 camaro.

My 73 coupe is all original, I am doing a body off at the moment.

I'd use my original distributer for the mech tach drive and orignal M20 tranny.

Anyone have any opinions as to this (temporary) swap.

Sounds like fun to me. Putting in a high HP NOM and driving the car is the best of both worlds.

        Steve,

You should carefully check the M22 part of the deal. Now days people call any Muncie close ratio (and sometimes wide ratio) transmissions M22. Don't pay a premium for such a claim.

Check the cost of rebuilding this engine compared to buying a GM crate engine. They have some pretty reasonable deals on performance engines with a guarantee.
