    My car is not a heavy brake option car, but as I remember when I removed mine to clean and restore them, I squeezed the multiple finger together and pulled the cable from the outside (brake shoe side) through brake backing plate to the inside. I found that soaking them in a 5 gallon bucket of the Ridrust solution freed them up internally and removed the rust, they look like new again. I them soaked them in Prelube 6 before reinstalling them. I've found that applying prelube 6 to them once a year keeps them working well and looking like new.

    Got it out as you mentioned. Used a small hose clamp to compress the fingures. Will try the Ridrust tomorrow since that now needs to be done.

    Only had that posted for 5 min - fast work!
