Opportunity for 4Chevelle 454 Orig 1 Owner

As an original owner of a 72 Vette Coupe, many of you may think I'm passing over to the "dark" side,,,, and quite possibly I am.. A guy a grew up with has an original 72 Chevelle Malibu 454 Cowl Induction 4spd thatI have an opportunity to buy. As we grew up together, I know for total certainty, that it is a totally un-molested car with all #'s from headlights to exhaust are all original, except for the shifter. He still has the original one, but could never get it to quit ratteling, so it has a Hurst shifter.
He hasn't driven it for over 12-15yrs... is too tight with $$$ to bring it back himself, but except for the notorius leak on the back window that so many had its in super shape with around 70k miles.
Questions:
1. Is there any website that even remotely comes close to ours here to learn more.
2. What is the car worth today? (Nothing like it is on ebay) We remain lifetime friends, although hard to get together often due to distance, so want to be fair.
3. Not doing a frame off, but with a lot of effort, some smaller body work, paint job,,,and brought back to a survivor/driver short of total restoration show car,,, what would it be worth?
4 Any other sources out there that can be reached on the web?
