    C-2 headlight rotation

I am trying to troubleshoot a headlight rotation problem which I suspect lies with the rotation switch. The headlights will not rotate up or down using the switch. However, if I open the headlights manually they will close using the switch. I disassembled and cleaned the switch but it did not help.
There is a thread on the subject dated Nov. 1, 2005 where Dale Schafer discussed the rotation problem and he mentioned taking a jumper wire and jumped across the terminals and ran the headlights up and down. Could someone please describe where the jumper connections are made so that I can perform this function to help determine if I have a rotation switch problem? Thanks for your help.

Paul, it may be electrical, but it sound like the rotation gear inside the motor. The motor and the gear assembly is one simple setup. If you pull the front grill it's very easy to remove the motor from below and not worry about paint scratches. After it is out, there are 4 screws to remove to access the gear. It will be obvious immediately if the gear is shot. If it is, just remove and replace all the grease and install a new gear.

rotate the gear 180 degrees and reinstall it, unless this has already been done once (only 1/2 the gear gets used during operation).

Thank you for your responses but the information I am seeking is how do you make the jumper test to determine if there is a switch problem? Once I make that determination, I will proceed to look further for the problem. Thanks for your help.
