I have looked through all the archive messages since 1998 and don't find a discussion of the problem I am experiencing in mouting my windshield in the windshield frame of my '61. The bottom horizontal leg of the windshield frame is made up of a U-shaped channel with the stainless molding that lips over into the U-shaped channel. Once I finally got the entire frame assemblied around the glass, the stainless molding wants to slide up and out of engagement with the U-shaped channel. Is this stainless molding kept in place only by the pressure of the rubber gasket (that goes around the glass and is inserted into the U-shaped channel) pushing againt the lip of the stainless forcing it against the U-shaped channel? Other than this pressure, what keeps the stainless molding from moving up and out of engagement with the U-shaped channel? Any pointers will be appreciated. Also, is the stainless molding ever chrome plated or is it only polished to a chrome like appearance? Thanks.

check to make sure you have the molded-in flap on the inside of the windshield, this flap should rest ont dash pad when mounted. Next; the bottom seal has two ditinct sides, concave & flat, flat side should be down.
after installing the windshield, torquing one bolt at a time, you can use a 2X2 (about 9 inches long) being very careful, going around the bottom outside of the windshield, you can tap the molding into place. (The wood piece only needs to catch the top of the molding0 Done this several times and it works great.
For show; I flash chrome plate all the molding after polishing. The deck lid moulding look sharper with a chrome flash...- Top
