1967 CARB DATE DECIPHERING? HELP!!!

Hello, what a treat this board is.... thanks!

I am looking to learn how to decipher date codes on carbs for my 1967 435 Corvette.

Here is an example.... can someone decipher it, and also teach me how to decipher the codes myself. I though this info would be in my NCRS spec Guide, but it isn't.

example:

The Center Carb is marked 3902355-EV List #3660 dated #981

The outer carbs are marked 3902353EU List#3659 dated #681

I need to purchase these carbs... and don't want the whool pulled over my eyes.... I will definately need help. I have never even seen a real 435 set-up before.

The 3-digit Holley date code deciphers as year/month/week of the month.

981 is 1st week of August, 1969

681 is 1st week of August, 1966

The outers are OK for a car built before February, 1967, and the center carb is a service replacement made in 1969.

4-digit date codes started sometime later (1974?). Be aware that you can find absolutely mechanically-correct carburetors with incorrect dates, often for less $$.

Also, there were 255 '69 L71 with automatic transmissions, as well as many (67-69?) 400-hp tripower cars...these had a different center carb number. You may come across these center carbs. If you do, you may want to snag them, as they are harder to find and could probably be used to get date-correct units in a beneficial trade.
