i use this type of trap at our place in the

mountains when we close up for winter. i put out 4-5 of them out and i use RV anti freeze for the liquid because it preserves the little buggers,no smell. i use a plastic pop bottle for the bait holder and i super glue dry roasted peanuts on the bottle. i catch 20-30 mice every year and mrs clem likes it because we do not find mice dirt all over every thing when we open back up in the spring http://www.kountrylife.com/content/gal1017.htm

      Re: mice are everywhere

Try a new product by Bonide Products called "Mouse Magic" Comes with 4 ready to use packs. All natural product. My cost was $9 at an Agway in Mass. Just put in my car for outside (tent) storage.

Re: C2:67 Anybody see this before?

my mouse nest story: couple years ago i bought an unrestored , barn-find 29 chevy convertible landau. it hadn't been run in 30+ years, stored away in a west va barn . trailed it home, tuned it up and the old girl came to life. before i go further, let me explain the heaters used in these old chevy. there is a tin box that surrounds the exhaust manifold. the front of the box has a removable door-take it off in winter, reinstall it come summer. at the rear of the box there is a piece of flex pipe that passes thru the firwall just above the steering column. the front door of the heater box was off as i left the farm in what was my maiden voyage in the old chevy. up the road i go and not too far from home i detected the smell of something burning. next thing to happen was thick blue-black smoke filling the car's interior. next, and most unpleasant, were the sparks gathering on the mohair seats in the vicinity of my family jewels. shut her off, extinguished the fire in the heater and pushed her home. musta been a pound of rodent nest debris in the heater box. Family jewels survived and doing well , thank you. mike

Joe, the right person probably could get a large Federal grant to do the study.

Re: No mice in my garage....

I would think mouse nests are the least of our mouse problems. I would worry about the little buggers dining on the wiring. Nothing like a surprise fireworks display when you start the car in the spring! While we do have mice here in sunny FL, we very rarely have Winter storage, so it balances out.

all the animals go for the salt from your hands

on the wiring. the salt is the big attraction as we have a old outside toilet at our summer place which we do not use anymore BUT the porcupines have gotten into it and have completely eaten the wooded seat away. i had a friend that started a lawn sprinkler business and almost went belly up because the ground hogs ate the plastic hose under the ground. no one told him that you must wear gloves and clean the tubing of the salt from handling. the way we got the porcupines away from the cabin was to place a cow lick salt block about 100 feet from the cabin. they were starting to eat the the wood on the cabin

Also have one of Clem's drowning buckets on the floor. We'll see if it works.

Re: they also will build nest in the exhaust syste

I did some(a lot)body work on an old army Jeep with a cab on it for a friend of my fathers who had rolled it on its side. it took me about a year in my spare time. anyway show and tell time came and I started it up but it didn't sound right and would not rev up. I kept hearing a hissing sound but couldn't isolate it. I finally found the hissing was coming from a pinhole at a weld on the exhaust header pipe which led me to the muffler which I found "completely" filled with dry dog food. it didn't take a Sherlock Holmes to figure out this mystery.

                        No cigar

Must have scared the pants off of them, in taking a power run to Orchard Supply with the nest under the carb last Saturday. They were either holding on for dear life, or Orchard has some new friends.

in the same shopping center, but has moved to a new 10 screen in the newest shopping center a few blocks a way.
