'69 427 Fuel Pump Push Rod

When replacing this (lost) rod, exactly what should I be asking for? Would you recommend I get it from GM or will rods from major auto parts stores be equal? Are there differences between 327, 350 and 427 rods? I presume engine horsepower rating has no bearing on rod configuration.

My delimma is that the original owner had an electric fuel pump installed at the fuel tank and, I think although have not confirmed, that the fuel pump connection on the engine was covered with a gasketed flat plate. I did receive the initial pump with the car when purchased from the first owner. Evidently, he didn't retain the fuel pump rod.

Thanks in advance for your input,

Get a GM one. You're never really sure what the aftermarket has to offer. You can get a stock one at your local dealer, or if you can't go there during business hours, order it from Scoggin Dickey @ SDPC2000.com

P.S. The original may just be sitting in the block - you never know, just remove the 1/4" pipe plug and see.

    Good luck,
    Mark

Re: '69 427 Fuel Pump Push Rod

Thanks for the suggestion Mark. Please explain how a 1/4" pipe plug could possibly fill the void remaining from a missing fuel pump somewhat triangular gasketed surface on the block's side.

You will find the 1/4" pipe plug just below the fuel pump mounting plate. You can remove it and the rod will slid out.

Re: If you can wait a couple of days

            Hi Kent,

I took one out of a 69 427 that I parted out years ago. I think I still have it.

If I can locate it, you can have it for the shipping costs.

            Let me know,

            Chuck
