    REAR LEAF SPRINGS CORVETTE 1957

Does anyone know what the correct rear springs shoulb be for my 1957?

Whats the difference between the 1958 and 1957 rear springs?

I have rear springs with part number 3711550, is thats correct?

Also on the main spring at one of the end it has a curve - its that correct?

    Many THX

You could "use" the spring from any 53 to 62 Corvette, there were 4 and 5 leaf used

If the curve that you are talking about is a reverse curve at the front of the spring then it is bent.

I am certainly no expert... but doesn't the 57 spring have a groove in it?

That's the correct number for 56-57 rear springs. They had four leafs. Later springs have part number 3751438 stamped on them along with a date code from Eaton Spring. 5 leafs was a one or two year heavy duty suspension option, you don't want that unless you want to ride in a really ridig car. As far as I know they all had grooves in them. No repos have the grooves. Hope this helps.

PS Eaton will redo your springs, they are in the Detroit area.

            Terry is right...

The original springs had a grooved leaf, no repro does. These must be renewed by experts, as they need to be annealed, curved, and heat treated to maintain correct shape. If they are recurved cold, the'll just go bad.
