    P01 wheel covers for a 68

I have found a set of what the seller claims to be a set of proper covers. WHO can I e-mail the pictures to for an expert to verify if in fact they belong on my 68? Can anyone tell me HOW a NCRS Judge would verify their authenticity? There's VERY little in the NCRS judging manual.

Dave, if you get some photos of the P-01's, post them on the board for all to see. The difference is apparent when the 01's and 02's are side by side, but hard to tell otherwise (at least for me)

I thought the center cap on original PO2's was the same size as the base and if you could see they were larger or catch your finger nail on the edge they were not original caps on a PO2.

          Dave

Rick Bizzocco in his 1969 Stringray Guide book states that the PO1/PO2 center cap changed some time during the 1968 model year. He does not give a date. My 68 with PO1's was built in mid April and has the second style that appear to me to be indentical to the 1969 PO2's.

You can see what the first style center cap looks like if you paste the follwing link. They are on the silver coupe at the bottom of the page.

            I'm no expert, but.....

The hub caps in the web site photo do not appear to be the final production PO1's. The ones in this photo are also on the 1968 Sales brocure (Cover) and page 10. But are not the ones which came on my new '68. The 1969 Sales brocure has the production 1968 PO1's on the pages 4 & 5 photo and on page 10, but page 11 (2 photos) appear to be the same as on the 1968 brocure, but difficult to tell from this photo.

John: You are the ONLY one to reply to my NCRS posting about '68 P01 Corvette Wheel Covers that lends ANY credibility. Would it be too much to ask for you to take some digital photos of 1 of your covers & e-mail them to me at David.J.Weinstein@gm.com ? I know that's a lot to ask for but YOUR car was built mid-April & mine was June 15th. Close-ups of where the fins meet the center hubs would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you know if your po2's are original to your car or are they replacements? Just wondering. Does your build sheet say P02 or PO1? Thanks, Terry
