C2 '66 color scheme

I met a guy over the weekend with a nice looking '66 SB conv purchased in the early '70's.

It had the following color scheme, which we both thought a bit perculiar: blue/white with black top. Is it us, or does it seem like the top ought to be white, too?

Just wondering. I intend to check the Corvette Black Book when I get a chance.

My Sunfire Yellow and STD black int came with a white top, changed it to black when I replaced it. Black was standard so you had to order white but who drives with them up anyway.

As I understand it, the customer could order a white, tan, or black top on any exterior color. I don't believe the factory had predetermined color combinations. The trim tag does not indicate convertible top color.

My Laguna (dark) Blue convertible was ordered with a white top, replaced with a black one, and I restored it with a tan top which, in my opinion, looks the best of the three.

Laguna_Bright Blue_Tan

Here's the top section of an actual order (see box on extreme right). I believe there was no "default" color; you had to check off one of the 3 boxes unless you were ordering hardtop only.
