    Trim Rings

I'm looking for help how to identify which trim ring design, the 1st or the 2nd, is correct for 1970. I understand that both designs have one clip very near the valve stem hole and three others at 90 degree apart. But there is some other difference between the two designs. I don't have a jg, been trying to get one for the last 10 months but it's between editions.
    Thanks
    John

The early style trim ring with one of the four clips mounted very close to the valve stem hole is correct for your car.

      Hi Jack:

Aren't there two different widths of trim rings, depending on what year they were for? My 67 trim rings are the four-clip style that you describe, but I thought C3 trim rings were wider, due to the use of wider wheels.

        Joe & John,

"67 trim rings have a step in the outer lip and a definite break between that and the inner circumferential portion. Later ('68 and on) trim rings have a more gentle bend between the outer lip and the inner portion. Hopefully oters more experienced the me will help but, it is my understanding that because of the narrower wheels used in 1968, their trim rings are narrower and '69 and up trim rings do not fit the '68.

Jack is correct on the clips for all those years.

          Kent, et al-----

The 1968 and 1969+ trim rings are the same. The 68 wheel width is 1" narrower, but the 68 still used the same trim rings as later.

The 1967 trim rings are altogether different. I believe that the question involved the differences in the 68-82 trim rings which may be described as "1st design" and "2nd design" (although the part numbers for the rings never changed). If 1967 trim rings were going to be included in the "mix of designs", then there would have to be at least 2 more "designs" added since there were at least 2 different 1967 designs (only one of which was ever used in PRODUCTION, the other being SERVICE-only).

            Joe
Thanks for the information, but I'm still not sure how I answer a vendor's question as to which trim ring design, either #1 or #2, I want for my 70.
            Thanks
            John
