I remenber honduras maroon color in the 60's and it was a great color. All of the restored cars I have seen this color have a lot more brown in them and I have asked when I could about the difference and was told that the old paint had lead in it. So I was told that this color can not be duplicated. I do love this color and am asking if there is a way to duplicate this color with todays paint? Thanks in advance.

Go find a Paint mixer with the computer
"matcher", them bring a piece that is painted the Honduras that you want. The difference today is probably not the lead but some other part of the mix that is no longer available. Let the computer decide on "plan B".- Top

My above post/link
Gives you the paint code/color etc...
I competent mixer can give you the correct color.
You can try to match it but you will need a part that has not been faded by the suns uv. many people use a spectrometer(sic) to place onto the part to help get the "right" formula1954 Corvette #3803 - Top Flight 2012, Bloomington Gold 2012,

Re: C-1 1960 Paint Color
Honduras maroon is very difficult to match. Check in the archives--there's been a discussion within the last year. Metal flakes are now different size, different make-up, etc. A friend here spent $1000+ on trying to get a perfect match, then an additional $800 for the paint--I still didn't like it--didn't match the underside of the trunk lid on my original-paint 62--also didn't match the outside paint of an original 62 HM trunk lid that has been in storage forever.
Good luck!!- Top

Re: C-1 1960 Paint Color
A good place to look for unmolested paint on a '62 is behind the rear liscense frame, my '62 had been painted numerous colors, but no-one had ever removed the support for the plate and behind it was original paint that had never seen sunlight, Honduras Maroon is a very pretty color!Bill Clupper #618- Top
