C3 trim rings revisited

For those interested, here are photos of the difference between 1st and 2nd design C3 trim rings. The 1st design has a narrow flat clip retaining ring. I believe on the 1968s this ring was painted black, making them the "true" 1st design. On the second design, I believe in 1973 or 1974, this ring was made wider and a reinforcing "lip" was added.
