Muriatic acid will take the flash chrome off. If the trim has been triple chromed I'm not sure. It was originally flash chromed. I had mine polished recently and opted not to have it flash chromed.

As Bryan mentioned, The original finish is chrome over stainless. It's possible but I doubt that the parts you are looking at have been triple plated.

Either way, you will not be able to tell the difference by just looking at them. I'd leave them as is.

TRACEY : are you saying that 1963 trim was chrome originally .64,65,66,67, were polished stainless ? 1963 was different then all the rest . THANKS

          Nancy,

63's were no different than 64-67. All were finished with chrome over polished stainless. Here is a picture of an old bent-up interior trim piece that illustrates the OEM finish.

There is a spot in the middle of the pic where I removed the flash chrome. You can see the bare polished stainless has a slight yellowish tint. The chrome on either side has a blueish tint.

Polished stainless will further oxidize over time and the difference will become more evident. This is one of the corrections I submitted for the 63/4 JG. I hope it makes it in.
