Re: it will work for getting close enought to keep

i'm with you 100%---i mark my dampners every 90 degrees for tuning issues and still have a hard time hitting tdc---my "burn" time on leak down is low enough that i get my knuckels smacked or arm wrenched hanging on to the breaker bar---has anyone ever figured out the torque a 4" bore makes with a 100 ft lbs of "continuous" air creats?

...except OE cast pistons that have .060" pin offset.

In this much time, I could have pulled the engine

Heck, by the time you guys quit figuring out if the leakage is right or wrong, I could have the engine out, apart, and going to the shop.

            You know there is leakage.

You know it is using oil.

You know you are going to have to fix it.

SO WHY STAND AROUND ARGUING TESTING PROCEDURES?????

BTW, I had one that had sudden oil usage. Didn't have time to fix, just dump the oil in and drive.

Ring landing had broken, along with a couple of rings. I had several grooves in the cylinder, one half inch wide, almost 1/8 inch deep.

The longer you wait, the worse it gets. Pull the engine and be done with it.
