    C1 - Generator Oilers---

I have a close friend he does an excellent job restoring generators, alternators etc. Does anybody have a good source for the old oilers used for the Generators. The are like metal caps that a spring loaded lid. I need several new ones...anybody got a source?

    Many Thanks

Anyone rebuilding a generator today is using maintenance free bearings that require no oiling. As far as the press-fit oiler caps go, you can remove your originals and take them for a 'swim' in your home plating system to restore the original plated finish OR simply ask your local generator rebuilder to install fresh new ones... Most in the generator rebuild business have a supply in their small parts bin.

Collin, I had a hard time finding them believe it or not. BUT, pillow block bearings for evaporative coolers have the spring loaded caps just like the generator, I picked up two at Home Depot foe a few bucks each, removed the olier caps and tossed the bearings. Cheaper that the vendors and no shipping fees. They look fine and work the same...

Verne, it is a bearing that holds a shaft on a squirrel cage blower. The bearing is enclosed in a metal U shaped bracket that is bolted to a frame. It is usually cushioned with a rubber surround to dampen vibration. Most commonly found where you buy replacement parts for swamp coolers, but are probably used in other applications taht have cage blowers.
