    tank replacement C-1

I need to replace my fuel tank in my 62 this winter. Naturally I only want to go in there once. Is there anything I need to order in addition to the tank besides new rubber and clamps? Any advice to save me grief? I'm making my list and checking it twice for the holiday season! Thanks in advance!

A new sender and fuel sock is a good idea if theyre original. . Use you the original straps to hold the tank and also a good time to install a separate tank ground to control the dancing gas gauge.

Check the archives on this one. We've had several discussions about the poor fit of the repro tanks and what it takes to get them to fit.

Also the vent line might need replacement due to aging...

And the fuel filler neck hose - they dry-rot and crack; NAPA sells correctly-reinforced fuel filler hose by the foot. Also a good opportunity to make sure the fuel filler cavity drain nipple and hose is still there - you can only get to it with the tank out of the car.

I found the replacement tank, due to its larger size, a very tough installation. I decided to sell it and recondition my original; the installation is "normal".

Thanks everyone! I must admit, I'm a little nervous now that I've read some of the past threads. Guess I'd better keep my fingers crossed! Thanks again!
