Has anyone successfully cut the hole for a power window switch in a non power window console? 1965 to be specific. I searched archives. Thanks, Mike

Re: C2 PW Console Cutout
Mike, I converted a console for the power window switch, about 25 years ago. The studs to receive the switch mounting screws, are there on the backside, but I don't remember if they were tapped or not. I just lined up the switch with the mounting studs and roughly marked the outline, where the switch would go thru. I drilled the 4 corners, inside the outline marks and used a small hand held saw blade, to connect the holes. Once I had the rough outline cut out, I used a small rectangular hand held file, to enlarge the opening to closely match the switch. Worked perfectly and looked exactly the same as a factory installation. It would probably be a lot easier today, to just use a Dremel tool. Hope this helps. Dave- Top

Thanks Dave, I think I will give it a try. I have a very nice original console just not PW. I would rather use it than try buying one on E-Bay. Mike- Top
