    Re: Fraud Warning: Chicago Corvette

I have had 2 dealings with Chicaho Corvette:

The first - I managed to find the correct production Q-Jet for my car (7028207 DA) but it had the wrong date on the base plate. I have seen his restored '68 carbs ($700) on E-Bay (MTZCARB) & called him about a base plate. I was able to get a base plate from him with the right date for $65. I truly expected it to be more. At this time, I did not know that the MTZCARB E-Bay store was affiliated w/ Chicago Corvette.

The second - With the base plate came a catalog for Chicago Corvette. They actually listed a small block A.I.R. pump brace for $43. These are very hard to find & not re-popped. None of the major suppliers list this part. I called & I was told that it was not in stock, but they will call me when they get one in. This was about June or July. I got a call from them last week & told that it was being shipped to me @ that price. The brace arrived today & the price they quoted & it was in excellent shape.

Frankly, these were specific non reproduction item (E-Bay like) purchases. I will continue to use my regular suppliers for my everyday needs.

Oh well,,,,,,,,,,,I guess they can't screw everybody...............

The brace has been reproduces for some time by America's Finest Corvette. I have heard of too many bad deals with Chicago corvette for too many years and that was way before I started to frequent this board. Everyone sort of has to do there own thing. Terry

I also recently was ripped off by Al, aka MZTERCARB.
I purchased a distributor cap from him on ebay with Buy it Now price and when I received it he had charged me a higher price. I called him and spoke with him personally and he said he would issue credit for the overcharge. I had no problem with that as anyone can make a mistake. Never received the credit and e-mailed him asking where is my credit, he replied it was issued. I subsequently received my credit card statement and there was no credit for the overcharge. He lied.
I would never buy from Chicago Corvette again based on my personal experience and reading about the unfortunate experiences of others with this guy.
I will also discourage anyone else from doing business with him so they do not get ripped off as I did.
        Buyer Beware of Chicago Corvette
