Re: advice
Uhmmm...Sorry, Roy, you can't get a 2006 with a tan top AND an ebony interior; I'm pretty sure they didn't make them that way.
In 2006, Corvette offered cashmere interior (like a light camel) with the tan top, and that interior is the only one that comes with color-matched (very light tan) carpet...all other interior colors use the ebony carpet. The light interior, especially the carpet, makes it more difficult to keep it looking new. They also had a grey interior, and that one goes with the gray top.
Anyway, both the tan and the gray tops were discontinued for most of the 2005 model year because of wrinkling and easy soiling...in 2006, you could get them, but I'm not sure they still hold up their appearance as well as the black. The Daytona Sunset Orange, black top, ebony interior would work well for you, but aesthetics is personal.
The 2006 also has the paddle-shifting six speed auto...in spite of early doubts, the A6 experience and performance reports sound pretty good. Once it went into service, there have been few complaints. I prefer the manual six speed; it's a heavy-duty transmission, but has a minor annoying quirk of balky shifting when it's below, say, 60 deg for the first few miles...it's like a dragging and clashing of the synchros for the first few shifts; above about 60 deg, it shifts like butter.
For a new 2006 now, it may be tough to find what you want as a leftover. If you wanted a 2007, I could put you on to a good dealer. Try the Corvette Forum...they have a C6 Corvette Cars For Sale Forum. If you prefer to buy through a dealer, several of the CF sponsoring dealers (Fitchner, Stanford, Kerbeck) take in Corvette trades, and many of those cars are pampered.
Your grand daughter may get the 55 long before anyone expects...once you get a taste of the decadence, you'll be really reluctant to road tour the 55 again.- Top

Re: advice
Wife and I love driving our Auto. 55 Corvette ,it's so comfortable and nice to drive, that's why I wont a 06 but orange color that's near the color of the 55. Just keeping the beater 55 and have a nice new Corvette. Having two Corvettes one old and one new, plus my other cars is it. I feel burned out on Corvette now days, it's just not the fun "hobby" it use to be, tho I love talking and seeing them just no more extra older Corvettes.
We like many other make cars like Caddy, Buick, Olds and Chevy and find them more family fun with all the grad-kids- Top

Re: advice
roy, this i think is the second time you have mentioned this future purchase---i am a wholesale ca dealer and i am able to buy at gm only dealer auctions---if you want we can get together and make your purchase without all the retail dealer bs---no problem to get you in and bid against MAJOR gm dealers---i watched a utah gm dealer pay 78k for an 06 z06 which windowed at 72k---crazy yes but he is not on the buy spike---i.e he will not take a bunch of looser cars to get the cream of the crop or his csi (customer satisfaction index) is low---the chev pickup 2003 one year only, i think came with the (burnt,omaha,sunset--orange--cool color---way cool color---phil- Top

Re: advice
Roy - Try http://rogerscorvette.com for some of the best maintained used Corvettes with very low mileage. I know, it's a long way but he'll ship one to you. The original owner of my '69 435 has his second frokm Roger and said he wouldn't deal with anyone else.

Checkout Kerbeck Corvette, may have 2006
still in stock. Understand Kerbeck has a boat load of Corvettes and they want to move them. Now's the time to buy. Good luck, Gary....NCRS Texas Chapter
