I am told by unverified sources that Kerbeck actually displayed the "Motorama" car in August at some show in upstate NY with the hood open and showing the V8. Can anyone verify this? Was it a location that was just too close to Rochester NY (where the restorer, Jon Blanchette lives) or has enough time passed since the 50th anniversary celebration that now they want to get "real". Remember, the report was a rumor..........

Motorama Photo
Loren,
For my information, does this photo appear to be the EX-122? Also, note the wall photo in the background.
You may already know the rest of this, but there is a discussion on Corvette Forum that argues the prototype's real existence today (12/1/06). And Kerbeck Chevrolet's website claims seem to leave no doubt that it exists (as far as they are concerned). Also, Dr. Rebuild has some 1970s archive photos of the EX-122 on his website showing the V-8 and the 122 VIN during its incarnation as a red car. Finally, the Summer 1993 Restorer tracked the prototype's history in an article by Amgwert.
There may be nothing new here, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Re: EX-122 "Motorama" car
Loren,
Check Kerbeck's web site for their hype. EX-122 is the Motorama car from which Steve Koss cut the scoop that was bequethed to me. I'll take it to Old Town if you wish to see/hold it.

Re: EX-122 "Motorama" car
Loren,
EX-122 was at the Rochester Corvette Club car show in August. The car was in the showroom with the hood open. There are pictures of the car on their web site: www.rochestercorvetteclub.org- Top

Re: EX-122 not the "Motorama" car
I had viewed this EX122 many times in the Rochester, NY area. This is the area that the car spent all it's life on the streets. The EX122 according to Jack Ingles who owned the car and lived in Candaigua, NY was a mix of parts (frame, body,& engine) from different Corvettes of the day. It was purchased from GM that way with a V8 by him and I do not remember when he said that transpired. Jack has since passed away. Jon Blanchette had restored the car for Jack three times over the years that Jack owned it. I had trailered EX122 to our NCRS Regional meet at the GM Rochester tech center in Henrietta, NY in 1992. Back then the car was not of show condition and Jon Blanchette said it was in need of attention again. A look under the chassis as I was strapping it down revealed Jon was right. According to Jack this was just a test car for GM engineering, never any mention of it being a Motorama Car. Jack claimed the car was always red at many local shows as people asked why the car was not white.- Top

Re: EX-122 "Motorama" car
The previous owner was a long time member of the Rochester Corvette Club. The club had made a request for the car to be shown at it annual Corvette show with the host being Holeston Chevrolet of Fairport NY. I had taken a few pictures and I will attach one of the engine bay.

Jack Ingles did NOT purchase the
car from GM. He bought it from Russell Sanders, who had transferred from MI and his duties as the chief of the Experimental Section to Rochester Products as the Director of Engineering. He purchased the in April of 1956, but had made sure that it got a new frame, new '55 body, new motor, etc BEFORE he bought it. He paid $22XX for the car and sold it to Ingles for $1000. It was when he bought the car that the EX-122 tag was issued.- Top
