Master cylinder , for a 70-72 car with power brakes. Again for a driver would you go with the AC Delco or another after market brand, any one know if the current AC Delco is even made in USA or by Delco?

These master cylinders have not been manufactured by any GM or, even, DELPHI manufacturing operation for well over 20 years. I believe that all of the master cylinders for 67-82 Corvette applications are manufactured by either Wagner or Bendix. The same master cylinders are then packaged in whatever branded box. All that I have seen have prominently embossed on the side of the master cylinder "Made in U.S.A.". It's possible that's changed recently, though. The short of it is that I don't think it matters what brand you buy as to what you get, but I think I'd still use Delco. That's because if you buy it right, you can get it for about the same price as you'd pay for a Bendix or Wagner.
Another alternative would be to use the new reproduction master cylinders that have come on the market fairly recently. These are a NEW master cylinder, are very close to the originals in all aspects of configuration, and are not too expensive, either. The "downside" is that I believe that they are manufactured in the "far east". However, that does not make them bad. Like it or not, a lot of very fine stuff comes out of the "far east" these days. For example, China has some of the finest steel manufacturing facilities in the world thanks to their importation of German technology and equipment. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Well, you have a choice. The master cylinder that I believe is manufactured by Bendix or Wagner and which is embossed (or, at least, used to be embossed "Made in USA") is Delco #174-475 and is also known as GM #18009460. This master cylinder carries a GM LIST price of $355.80. It can be purchased through Delco dealers for about $175.00.
There is another master cylinder which is available through GM and Delco which is part of their "Dura-Stop" brake products line. This master cylinder is known as Delco #18M72 and also known as GM #18030314. It carries a GM list price of $105.52 and can be purchased through Delco dealers for about $65.
So, what's the difference between these 2 parts? I wish I knew.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
