I have a 1984 Corvette with X ram manifold and 92 Camaro ECU with performance chip. Most of the emmission stuff is removed(air pump, hollowed out cat, EGR valve). This car belonged to a family member who lived in Florida and the car is now in New York. The check engine light appears temporally usally after warm up and stays on for about 5 minutes and dissapears. It can come back on again for several minutes but always turns itself off. When I read the codes I get 44 and 13 44-lean exhaust 13- 02 sensor. I changed the 02 sensor and wire with no improvement after clearing the codes. When I retested the codes they were the same 44 and 13 with the new sensor. There appears to be no vacuum leaks and the car has a 85 fuel pump and rebuilt throttle bodies. All of this being done in the past year and a half. Previuos owner never had that problem in Florida. Any suggestion?

Re: codes 44 and 13
Sometimes engine check faults are not the result of a bad sensor... They can be caused by faulty inter-connect wiring to the sensor as well as fault(s) of the ECM's port pins. The maintenance manual ought to give you step-by-step instructions for diagnostics based on the observed fault codes...- Top
