8 early power teams (ie power trains)
By the time the showroom brochure was printed, there were 8 combinations of transmission and engine (sum of the vertical tramsmission column).
This assumes that 3-speed could only be ordered on the base 250hp engine, and not the L75 300-hp option. This was NOT the original intended case, as the 1965 New Product Manual and the Chevy Service News (Sept '64 edition) -- 1965 New Product Features, shows 3-speed with L75, which would make 9 power "team" possibilities (count below).
Below is a scan of the New Product manual -- note the early horsepower figures; this leads me to believe your 8 power teams was a revision at final product release.

Addendum -- the more I look ....
Should mention that the NCRS C2 Spec Guide shows NO 3-spd w/L75; but the NCRS '65 TM&JG implies that the "HF" engine code (L75, 300hp) is possible with "manual" transmissions (not like L79, 76 and 84, which require 4-speed).
Then, to complicate further, Tech Service Bulletin April 2, 1965 shows "HF" code as valid for "3 or 4 speed".
So I ask; has anyone seen a 3-speed trans coupled with a HF block ?- Top
