    Radio repairs

Looking for a good but reasonable radio repair shop in the eastern PA area. I don't mind $1-200, but I have seen some repair shops on the internet asking in excess of $3-400.
How about some good replacement 10 ohm 4X6 speakers for the dash?

Depending on what year we are talking about for your radio and what needs to be done will affect the price. My wonderbar for my 1962 cost $400.00 to restore.I had D&M Restoration do mine. There are in South Carolina. If you want there number, e-mail me and i'll give you all their contact info.

          Greg-----

You are going to have a very hard time finding someone to rebuild the radio for $200. However, if all you want is a repair performed on a time-and materials basis AND THE RADIO DOES NOT SUFFER FROM MULTIPLE, SUBSTANTIAL PROBLEMS, then you might get away with it in that range. What you'll get out of it, though, is a radio that will work FOR THE MOMENT. When the next problem will "rear its head", who knows? At best, the repair center will guarantee for a limited time period the REPAIR THEY MADE and NOT the continued overall functioning of the radio.

Assuming that you're talking about a 1970-77 model with 4 X 6 speakers, you can obtain a replacement 10 ohm 4 X 6 speaker under GM #15173232 for about 40 bucks, GM list. Will this be a high quality, aftermarket-type speaker? No, you can be certain that it won't. It will be functional and approximately equal to what was originally installed, though.

            Greg,

The radio from '68 radio was sent to Mike Hagan @ Antique Radio Repair in Fairless Hills, PA 19030. I am not sure if he does standard repairs to factory specs. He is converting my radio w/ modern electronics & a 180 watt amplifier & it will be XM & CD ready.

I believe Fairless Hills is near the Jersey border outside of Trenton. His # is 215-547-7145.
