C2 Glove Box Door- Oh Trauma!

It took me a practice 64-65 glove box door to build up the courage to do this to my original 67 door:


Used Bob Young's original method. A #420 Dremel blade works best, got 3"-4" per blade.

But not to worry, here's how it came out:


Now a little paint touchup and back on the car.

Also will be writing up the story with Bob's procedure. You might be seeing a story on this in the Restorer.

No Kevin,

Replaced the insert without drilling the rivets. Not sure there is any way to rebrush the aluminimum insert and make it come out looking original. The stuff is so soft, any scratch in it stays forever.

If anyone knows a refinishing technique for the insert, let me know. I've tried quite a few. Sure wish they made them out of stainless steel to begin with.
