Senior moment. I bought this some time ago. It's a snap ring. What is it for?

Re: Retainer #5694191
Paul,
That part number would be in group 6.551, Shaft Kit, steering gear hydraulic valve. The number 5694191 doesn't appear in my 1974 printing of the parts book but likely it is in earlier or later printings.- Top

Re: Retainer #5694191
Paul and Michael-----
It's in group 6.521. It's a steering column part and, specifically, a steering shaft stop nut retainer applicable to the following
65-67 Corvette with tele wheel
67-68 Corvette except tele wheel
69 Corvette.
It also has other applications on other Chevrolet and other GM cars of the period.
Beleive it or not, it remains available from GM to this very day.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Yup, you are correct Joe. I was looking in Gr. 6.551, not the correct 6.521. I think they're making the numbers in the book smaller and smaller now. They sure weren't that small 20 years ago. Couldn't be that I should be wearing glasses, could it?- Top
