Re: 1967 horn relay wire plugs

Keith - The plastic pieces on the wiring harness that attach to the terminals on the bottom side of the 67 horn are black. It's the plactic surround on the bottom of the horn relay that is semi-clear. Pete

I believe the reference in the TMJ is describing the base of the relay itself as semi clear, not the harness.

Pete, is it the later service relpacement that has a black base on the relay?

          Keith,

The relay in the picture is from a June 67 car. The base should be semi-clear.

Re: Horn Relay Plastic Base Pieces

Nick - The 115862 horn relay (68-69E) also has a clear plastic base piece but that base piece has a different configuration than the 1115837 (66-67) base piece because of the addition of the 3rd terminal for the key buzzer. The 1115890 horn relay (69M/L-70) has a black plastic base piece "identical" in configuration to the clear plastic base piece on the 1115862. The 1115889 horn relay (71) also has a black plastic base but it is somewhat different in design from the 1115890 in that plastic base includes the attaching screw hole and the alignment tab. On earlier horn relays the plastic base pieces were separate pieces from the metal piece with the attaching screw hole and alignment tab. Generally, the later production horn relays became the replacement for earlier applications.

The above observations are from used original and NOS Delco-Remy horn relays I have and have observed, so I've prefaced the discussion with "typically" because it looks like in observing the 1115862 and 1115890 horn relays that the plastic base pieces on these 2 horn relays are "identical" in configuration, the exceptions being the color of the plastic and possibly the type of plastic. So possibly, later production 1115862s or early production 1115890s could have come with atypical colored plastic base pieces.

            Pete
