65 Steering shock and sidepipe interference

I am adding side exhaust to a customers 65 convertible with 2.5 inch pipes. The end of the steering shock (new Delco) interferes with the new left side pipe. Did side exhaust cars have steering shocks removed or am I dealing with another issue?

Ken,

I installed factory style side exhaust on my 67 small block no power steering car and I had no problems with clearing the steering shock. You didn't mention if you were dealing with a small block or big block car or if the sides are factory or otherwise. Also my car has stock manifolds.
