    Just a Corvette

Years before the word "Trailer Queen" was used I pulled a trailer!

    Roy,
Quite sporty shoes (black and white?) to drive a sporty car.

      Hi Roy:
I have been trying to get a trailer hitch for my 61 for over a year now with no luck at all. I'm hoping for something that I don't have to weld on. Just to tow a small motorcycle type trailer to help get all my stuff to Carlisle. What can you tell me?
      Thanks!!!
      Jim
P.s. put almost 10,000 miles on her this year...

I have never owned a pickup. Back in the 80's I would hook up my motorcycle trailor to my 70 Corvette and go to the woods and cut a load of firewood. I would cut trees into multiple foot lenghts and load the trailor. Had a plastic storage container for the chain saw that I would strap to the 70's luggage rack. Did this for several seasons until I lost my cutting privledges. Wish I had taken pictures of my 70 in the wilderness with a load of firewood. The 70's 350/300 turbo 400 never strained to pull a load out of the woods.

Jim! OK it's simple I used a three side square steel section about 18in. Long that slipped over the rear cross bar as seen and using two bolts is all it takes. Welded on was a slide in tow bar as seen also to clear my body. Then if you wont later just brass the holes closed and paint . I also because of the trailer I added air shocks to aid the rear springs. And added power brakes that I wrote about to also help stop the trailer. It's simple to remove when not needed and don't screw up the Corvette. I ran the trailer wire out the spare tire drain hole also.
My 55 don't even know the trailer is behind it.

Dont tell NCRS I told you so some people think I destroyed the Corvette.

              That picture is awesome!

My Sunfire Yellow 67 has a dealer installed G.M. Hitch and Ball. They screwed it in with bolts right into the chrome bumpers.

The original owner, whom I purchased the car from in July, told me he used to park with all his buddies off the highway onto a sandy area by the beach in Pensacola. He was the only one with posi-trac... and he used the ball to pull his friends out of the sand, over and over for the first few years of the car's life!

              Happy Holidays!

Hi Jim when I bought my '62 in N.C. it came with a small enclosed trailer that I pulled to Southern Ca. I'll get you some pictures.

                  Jim

A trailer hitch for a 62 was a dealer option. I have one but it might take me a while to find it. It bolted on, one bolt to the frame crossmember and two bolts to the license plate bracket. When I get it out I will take a picture and send it. You can find them at swap meets and e-bay once in awhile.

The hitch is bolted on with four 1/2 inch bolts to rear crossmember.
