65 FI had a little electric fuel pump under the FI , I added it to my 57 FI years ago and it started every time hot or cold and also never worry about hydro=locking.

Roy, The '64-65 has a starting solenoid that was made by Skinner Valve. It does not pump but is simply a solenoid that is energized when the key is held in the start position. It does make for fast starting though. The 7380 unit was the best one made.
The only pump on the FI is the hi-pressure pump run off the distributor via a drive cable. John

John your right , but it does squirt gas to the spiders , I had a 65 FI in my 55 nomad and broke the drive cable from the dist to the pump ,we were 20 miles in the desert from town with three kids ( HOT), I ran one wire to the solenoid and another to the hot side of the ballaster and told the wife and kids to hold on then connected the two wires and started the engine and had to go about 80 MPH to keep the engine from flooding but it did get use to town. The funny thing was that the gas station we stopped at had a cable for the FI.

                  Fuel cooking in F.I.

A local friend of mine has a F.I. 62 that had a terrible habit of not starting hot and other drivability problems in warmer weather. He mounted a small blower over under the fender to blow fresh "cooler" air (via a tube)on the fuel dist block. Works like a charm. That thing will sit and idle on a hot July night now and never skip a beat. I think he borrowed that blower from a 260Z if I remeber right.

Mick, I understand from various customers that the blower idea words like a charm. Great idea. And easy to remove if the cars is being judged I am told. John
