Re: Igintion Shield and Distributer Cap
Frank------
If you need the cap for the 62, I don't think you want one with the "R". The caps with the "R" were first used for 1969 models although they later became SERVICE for older. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Igintion Shield and Distributer Cap
Frank, Finding a NOS D324 without an R is next to impossible. I understand that there is a repro on ebay though being sold as NOS. Didn't see it myself though. Best thing to do is have someone zip off the R. Paul Mazut from the NE chapter is good at that. I am sure the boys have his email address for you. John- Top

Re: Igintion Shield and Distributer Cap
With respect to the welds on the shield, ORIGINAL top shields have rough welds, and the corners appear to have been beat with a hammer then welded. If this is what you have, I'd keep it. one good way to tell a reproduction is the corners where the top meets the outside edge of the bottom piece is seldom welded as the original is. Without a picture of yours, I can't really be more definitive.Bill Clupper #618- Top
