    1961Katrina Corvette Vin 10867S10531

I was browsing through an insurance auction web site and came across a 1961 Corvette with flood damage from Katrina. The corvette is located approx 75 miles from my home and I was thinking about going down to look at it. I was hoping that someone may know this car and could give me some information on it.
I was guess the car is from the New Orleans area + OR - 400 miles. Its is a candy apple red with black interior,. it has hub caps with white striped tires. The car went completly under water not sur if fresh or salt water I am aware of the problems with flood damaged cars and all the perils that follow

I am sure I do not know the car either way, but that VIN appears to be 1 digit short (the part following the S is typically 6 digits).

Jeff, I have sent an email broadcast thru the Conferation of Corvette Clubs of Louisiana which should reach over 500 corvetters in the gulf area. I will post any responses. May take a day for all to read their email.

One of my corvetters sent me this.

"The car was in chalmette and was under 6 feet of water.
The car had same owner for about 15 years and was very seldom used"

Re: Check for broken windshield tabs

Jeff, I think that was a joke. The winshield pilars, the big heavy cast/chrome pieces in front of the doors are usually broke because glass shops back in the day could change the glass without removing the whole frame by breaking the tabs on those pilars. Since the 59/60 that is pictured in the previous post is on it's "roof" then they are broken.... Eric
