Does anybody have any decent pictures of the original early C4 Corvette-specific batteries? I'd prefer 1985, but am interested in any 1980s C4 battery ...

Stephen,
Why don't you pose 'em here, so'se we all can see. I'd be interested, too. Certainly others........hopefully "Restoration Battery".
I'd like to know the exact dimensions, label(s), and any embossing done to the case.

Re: [Original C4 Battery] Searching For A Needle .
John------
All C4 Corvettes used a Group 75 battery. The basic design and features of the battery were the same over all the years. However, nuances of labeling, color, etc. did change periodically.
The group 75 battery used for Corvettes was the same as the group 75 battery used for many other cars of the period EXCEPT for one difference. ALL other applications used a Group 75A (sometimes labeled only as "75") whereas Corvette ONLY used the group 75B. The batteries were identical except for one feature: on the group 75A (or, 75) batteries the "Delco Eye" was on the LEFT side of the battery (as viewed from the side terminal side) and on the group 75B battery, the "Delco Eye" was on the RIGHT side. That's because the left side "Delco Eye" could not be seen in a C4 Corvette application.
Not only were these batteries used on the assembly line, the 75B was also available in SERVICE from Delco dealers. The problem was that virtually no dealers stocked this battery and it had to be ordered. When a guy needs a battery, he usually wants it NOW, not several days later. So, the easily available 75A was usually installed. I tried to get a Delco dealer to order one once for me; they thought I was nuts and wouldn't do it.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: [Original C4 Battery] Searching For A Needle .
John, I have a brand new AC Delco Battery out of my 84 Corvette. Perfect, except dead. If you need a picture let me know. I went thur the same deal as Joe has stated. I wanted the correct one for a replacement and everyone thought I was nuts. A friend of mine (who worked at the Chevrolet Dealer)told me the only way to get a correct replacement was take a 85 out for a test drive and take the battery. I never did. But saved the original 1984 Corvette black battery for a reference. I suffered with the eye on wrong side. Happy Holidays.Save the Wave.>George- Top
