    2 Mid-year coils...Which is original?

I have two coils. Both have Delco-Remy embossed on the Bakelite top. Both have (202 12V)embossed on the body of the can. Now, the differences. I will refer to the coils as number 1 and number 2. The number 1 coil top edge of the can is slightly wider than Number 2 coil. Number 1 coil has a raised number "26" on the raised boss adjacent to the (-) terminal. On the number 2 coil there are the letters "BM" adjacent to the (+) terminal. And, lastly on the number 2 coil there is a trademark on the bottom of the can with the letters CMP.

The judging manual mentions the embossed "202 12V" and replacements having white lettering, but does not mention any other identifying features.

    Any info would be appreciated.

The 202 coil on my '66 is closer to your description of coil #1, except that there is a '24' legend at about 7 o'clock position relative to the minus terminal. Nothing by the +, nothing on the bottom of the can. I believe this is an OEM coil, but I'm not familiar with details of repros or other variants.
