1962 'M' Engine Suffix Code???

I have a 3789935 Engine cast Feb 6, 1962 with a stamp of F0208M (Feb assembly (no vin stamp). I can not find an application for 'M' in any of my stuff. Does anyone know???? Eric #3,182

The "M" designates a manual trans 283 "Trademaster" used in C-10-20&30 trucks.

That might not be a bad idea...

Those old trucks have a lot of class. Not much on frills though..... RPO-408 "Hi-Torque 283". 160hp, 270lbsft torque.

Hey, does that mean a 283 is a "truck motor"???????

Verne, The great news is, 10 years ago when I pulled this from my 61 RPO687 (should be a fuelie 315HP), I had it rebuilt and I put a set of Corvette heads (cant remeber cast number, but I will check later) and a corvette Intake on it. Should be a little better then 160HP now. Alway wanted to put this in an old 49-51 5 window pickup. Eric #3,182
