All,
Please refer to the thread below "Dimple", begun Thursday, 21 December 2006, at 11:31 a.m. Is it possible that the "pimple" is the aluminum rivet head for the wire harness clip, just below. The clip holds the main engine wiring harness to the underside of the cowl, exactly at the location shown in Nick Culkowski's photo.
If anyone could check this, it would be much appreciated. It would also answer a few questions that I have:
1. If it's not a rivet head, then what is it's purpose?
2. On my Corvette, why is it coincident with the harness clip rivet?
3. If all header panels were molded by the same manufacturer, using the same process, then why do only some headers have the pimple?
****If it IS a rivet, then assembly order would dictate whether the head appears above or lies below the header panel. In many cases, the rivet is installed and bucked to the bare cowl, and then the header is bonded over it, covering the rivet head.
Thanks in advance.
Joe
