Re: 1963 corvette outside mirror
Sander,
I would go with the later mirror. Three reasons! It's available, it's the best mirror of the two and the judging manual says after serial number 11000. The earlier mirror was too low to see over the rear fender peak.
Go with the most logical solution-the later mirror.

As the mounts are different, I think the question is what mount is your door drilled for?Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: 1963 corvette outside mirror
I would use the later one. You are after #11000. And "occasionally" is a word that requires an explanation and thought by the judging team. the new style is correct for VINs after 11000. Now if you have proof that your car came with the early style then use it, but be prepared to defend it if questioned (old photo's etc). Is you SW have an AM or AM/FM radio? I hve #12521 IT has AMFM and 2nd version of mirror Eric #3,182- Top

Re: 1963 corvette outside mirror
My SWC sequence number is just under 10,950 (documented build date of March 19 on the dealer copy of the production order that I have), and is has the short base mirror. Also, it was (plant) delivered with the bowtie oriented on the bottom, not the top, and that's the way I always kept it.
IMO your car probably originally had the short base mirror, however, based on the JG it would be a tough call for a judge to deduct for the long base type.
