    chrome plating

I need to get a C1 front bumper rechromed. I just put a 2 inch scratch across the front. I need a reliable source preferably in New England area. I have tried Nuchrome and Pauls in the past with not a good experience. Please help.

Ray, I used Librandis in Harrisburg and can't believe how nice they turned out. I shipped the bumpers, window frames and hockey sticks to them and picked them up at Carlisle.

Good luck Ray, I hope you find someone good. It sounds like you've had your share of bad ones. If you don't mind I was wanting to ask if anyone has any ideas on someone that is good at rechroming in the Illinois area. I would appreciate the information also. Use to be a guy in St. Louis on Martin Luther King back in the seventies but don't know if they are still around. Thanks for any help.

Spacecoast Plating in Melbourne, Florida has always done a good job for me on both automotive and marine items.

Ray, I use D&S Custom in Holyoke MA.413-533-7770. I think they are one of the best in the counrty. They have done 3 cars for me and each pcs is perfect. They do a lot of Pebble Beach cars including Ralph Laurens. Ask for Mickey and tell him I sent you.

                Ray,
I just got my windshield stainless back today from getting it reworked. I had taken it to a guy that retired after owning a paint and body shop in Decatur, Illinois for about 40 years. Anyway I was talking to him about getting some rechroming done. He didn't have anyone he could reccommend but he did tell me whoever I got to make sure they triple coated it. I thought he meant they dipped it in chrome three times but it actually meant after it has been prepped it's dipped in copper first. Then it is dipped in nickel, which acts as a primer. Then finally it's dipped in chrome. He said some guys will bypass the nickel because it is so expensive. He said if you've ever seen chrome peel that it most likely wasn't coated with nickel. Whether or not he knew what he was talking about I don't know, maybe someone on the forum knows for sure. If he DIDN'T know what he was talking about he sure had me hook, line and sinker.

                Good luck,

                Shooter

                    Librandis - Yes

Frankford - Never again. Very bad experience (actually several!)
