Has anyone had any success in repairing these carriers and maintaining the original blown fiberglass appearance. About a 2" piece of the bottom tray lip is gone and I'd like to fix it, but regular fiberglassing will not retain the natural grey blown fiberglass appearance. If I can't get the original finish look, is it better, point wise, to leave it broken or to fix it and just paint the repaired area with a close color match. Thanks for any help.

Re: 66Tire Carrier Fiberglass Repairs
Frank - I used a black pigmented powder used to dye concrete because my Carquest dealer didn`t know when he could get the tinted powder for fiberglass. It worked great! I had the same concern about matching the color as well as the finished surface. Wayne Womble gave my the tip about coloring the resin and I am happy with the results. I will tell the inside curve is tough to finish.Good Luck- Top
