I have been restoring the suspension on my 66 and have has the fuel tank out for cleaning and repair. When I put the sending unit back in with a new gasket and lock ring, the area around the sending unit leakes like a sive. Also having problems with finding new connectors for the terminals on the sending unit. My rubber peice is very hard and will not go on the terminal. Several parts houses say these connectors are part of the tail light wiring harness and are not sold seperatly. Any help would be appreciated. Dave

Re: fuel tank leak mid year
My gas tank is leaking in my '66 too. I just got my car back from a "reputable" Corvette shop who sent the tank out for repairs while I had some other work done. Funny, I don't recall the tank leaking before....
Anyway, I will end up replacing the sending unit o-ring myself, so I will be interested in what recommendations come out of this thread.

Re: fuel tank leak mid year
HI David
Replaced the fuel tank and the sending unit in my '63 just yesterday. No leaks from the sending unit. I used the installation tool available from many vendors, and it was simple. If you did not use the tool you may have nicked it somehow.. As far as the connectors, mine are indeed part of the rear harness.
Hope this helps
