    Midyear hardtop questions

I'm looking for some tips/advice on a couple of hardtop matters.

First; do those slings sold by LICS & others work OK for securing the top for installation & removal? If so, will a single pulley arrangement suffice OK for lifting, or should a hoist of sorts be used?

Second; I'd be interested if anyone has a fabricated a maintenance stand of sorts for working on weatherstrip, stainless, fittings & the like. I was thinking of something built with schedule 80 PVC with T's, angles, etc.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeff

    Re: Midyear hardtop questions

The drawback to hard top hoists is straight forward. In order to properly cradle the top at its center of gravity, the hoist straps have to lay against the weatherstrip. A prolonged grip deforms weatherstrip without some kind of home brew 'buffer'...

As far as a stand for working on top goes, an ordinary table with padding laid down supporting the top upside down gives you about as much access as you can ask for.
