    1976 C3 C3 Filler Neck Boot Installation

I am going to attempt to clean and restore my Filler neck boot, as it looks to be in good condition other than some paint and dirt. Can anyone assist me in how to remove it? The assembly manual is not so helpful! I appreciate you taking the time to type out your tips!

    Christopher:

Before removing, I would determine how pliable it is. If it has seen its day, it may crack as you remove it. It's easier if you remove the fuel door and the chrome ring that seats it on the body. This will allow you more room to remove the boot without having to bend it further.

Once you've removed the fuel door and frame, you simply and gently nudge it from around the fuel filler neck. You must stretch it to remove it and that's the point where it will crack if it's no longer sufficiently pliable to tolerate the stress of stretch.

All that remains is to remove the drain hose from the packside of the boot which you have loosened it from the fuel filler neck.

    Hope this helps.
