    C2 BB coil shorting

My 67 L68 coil does not seem to have enough room in the top ignition shield. The top of the coil is tight against the top shield cover and shorts when it gets hot. Everything appears to be stock (or stock type replacement) down to the plastic inside the top shield cover and the coil is as low as I can get it against the intake manifold. The coil does seem to be angled rearward by its bracket which causes the bottom of the coil to contact the rear of the intake manifold which raises it up a bit. I will probably redrill the ignition shield brackets so the shields will be a half inch higher to give me some clearance between the coil and the top cover. Anyone else ever hear of this problem? Is there a common problem with some replacement shield brackets, shields or coil mount bracket that could cause this problem?

My L36 has no problem. Could the coil be oriented wrong causing the posts to be closer to the shielding?

I do have original shielding and brackets.

If you raise the shielding be careful that the hood will close.....
